Jazz is a fun and upbeat style involving lots of jumps, kicks and turns. There are many sister styles of jazz
(Broadway/commercial/classical/ afro) but it is most typically performed to pop music. This is a great style for the
dancer who can never sit still, its high energy matched with show stopping moves are sure to make Jazz a family
favourite!
Ballet is a wonderful class that forms the foundation of most dance styles. The benefits of ballet are endless; it helps build students
technique, musicality, deportment, muscle development and safe dance practice. Usually performed to classical
music this genre is soft and graceful but requires a great deal of strength and discipline. As a foundation; Ballet is
a must.
Tap is the perfect class for those who love making music with their feet. Performed with specialist shoes students
will learn to control and create rhythm through the art of dance. Tap is a wonderful style to develop student’s
awareness of tempo, rhythm, unison and coordination. It is also the perfect class for those who love to make lots
of noise!
Performed to urban music, Hip Hop includes a mixture of low laid back movements with strong and hard-hitting
steps. There are many branches of the Hip Hop style (vogue/krump/tutting) and more new moves are created
every day. This is a wonderful style for the funky dancer with a natural groove.
Acrobatics follows the syllabus Acrobatics Arts which is a professional curriculum program designed to promote excellence in flexibility, strength balance, limbering, tumbling, basic contortion and partner/group stunting. Thoughtful progressions and structured levels assist to properly train dancers' bodies, greatly reduces the potential for injury and creates more technically correct work.
Contemporary was developed during the 20th century, contemporary dance involves incorporating aspects of movement from several other genres such as jazz, modern and ballet.
Contemporary dance technique combines the strong but controlled legwork of ballet with modern that stresses on torso. It also employs contract-release, floor work, fall and recovery, and improvisation characteristics of modern dance.
Musical Theatre is a jazz-based class filled with Broadway style dancing, Musical numbers and music. Classes incorporate the style of dance one would typically see on a Broadway stage or in Musicals. This form of dancing emphasizes learning performance skills such as connecting with the audience and facial expressions.
Aerial hoop is a breathtaking form of aerial arts where performers showcase their strength and flexibility with acrobatic manoeuvres, spins, graceful poses and artistic flair using a suspended circular metal apparatus.
We adopt the Aerial Arts syllabus to enhance students' balance, strength, flexibility, and confidence, fostering well-rounded aerialists with a focus on safety and injury prevention.
Aerial Silks is a performance art the involves acrobatic moves performed used a suspended fabric from a rigging point. Artists climb, wrap, spin, drop and spiral their bodies into various positions using the fabric. While it can be challenging, Aerial Silks is a great way to increase your body's flexibility, strength, stamina and courage. VIPA follows the Aerial Arts Syllabus aligning with our Acro and Hoop programs.
Tinies is aimed for children aged 2-4 years old. It is a great introduction to dance and perfect for little dancers who just LOVES to dance around the house all day! Not only teaches basic movements but also asissts with children's development in coordination, self-confidence, musicality, discipline and creativity. Fun for boys and girls alike and is a great way to make new friends! Tinies is offered in both Ballet and Jazz styles
Pre-Pointe & Pointe class is an extension class for Ballet students who wish to expand their classical itraning. Pointe technique is the part of classical ballet in which a ballet dancer supports all body weight on the tips of fully extended feet within pointe shoes. Dancers follow the syllabus developed by Vicki Attard & Lisa Howell to ensure safe progression and technique.
Adult Tap is a mixed level class where moves have been adapted to take into account less jumping and less high impact movement for all ages to enjoy!
Adult Aerial is like no other class. You'll learn acrobatic manoeuvres on a raised apparatus just like P!NK!
Adult Dance is a multi genre class where styles like Jazz, Contemporary, Hip Hop and Cabaret are taught. A great class for all levels and abilities to enjoy!
Tumbling is an extension class for acrobatic students who wish to expand their acrobatic training. This class utilises our airtrack and focuses on more advanced skills like walkovers, aerials and back handsprings.
Each progressive level requires different skills sets to move further up into the program to help avoid injuries and see well rounded technique in dancers.
To enrol in Tumbling, students must also be enrolled in Acrobatics.
Lyrical dance is a combination of ballet and jazz dance that uses music with lyrics to inspire the movements of the dancer. Choreographers use the lyrics from the song to inspire the dance and the result is a style that focuses on strong emotion as well as a more individual approach. It is also a very precise dance with the dancer’s movements portraying the emotion and story of the song.
To enrol in Lyrical, students must also be enrolled in Jazz or Ballet.
This class focuses on in depth technique for dancers who wish to take their dance journey to the next level.
The program is designed to help dancers refine their skills and improve their performance quality, focusing on developing correct technique, placement, and dynamics. If dancers want to take their flexibility, strength, and control to new heights, this is the class for them!
To enrol in Elite Technique, students must also be enrolled in Jazz, Ballet, Acrobatics or Contemporary.
